Museum of the Moving Image
Promotional flyer designs
DESCRIPTION
Over the summer, the Museum of the Moving Image’s education center hosts many community events lead by the summer interns. As one of the interns, it was my job to come up with posters to promote these events. I worked along with the other interns and the Museum’s graphic design manager to create posters that fit the museum’s brand and engaged guests to attend the events.
EVERY DAY HEROES, EXTRAORDINARY TALES
The first event was a live recording of a podcast on storytelling and character creation. This event was geared towards children, so I wanted there to be bright, bold colors and fonts to grab their attention. The information is broken up in each section to make it easy to read and understand. In order to draw children’s attention, the event focused on creating super hero characters, based on people they already looked up to, so I included a relatively androgynous superhero silhouette.
GAME AND MOVIE NIGHT
The second event was a board game and movie night, geared towards any age group. The event consisted of board games, 90s movies and cartoons, and— the main event— a game of Mafia.
FIRST DRAFT
This is the first iteration of the poster design with the basic content. I wanted it to resemble a game board, with the path dividing the poster into section that the information could be separated into, making it easy to read. After sending the design out to the museum’s graphic design manager, I took his feedback and made adjustments.
FINAL DESIGN
I added symbols to the original path, making it resemble a board game more. I changed the layout of the museum’s logo to vertical to allow for a larger tagline. After including some missing information, the design was approved and ready for printing.
